Tune into Amazon Career Day 2020 on September 16

Looking to dive back into the job market? Then tune into the Amazon Career Day tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Live, virtual and interactive, the event — offered to Canadians for the first time — is designed for anyone looking to join the ranks of the gainfully employed regardless of field, background, location or previous experience, even if it’s not at Amazon.

“For somebody who loves to build, invent, and create value for customers, Amazon is an exciting place to grow your career. We’re proud to offer quality jobs for Canadians while investing in economic recovery,” said Jesse Dougherty, Amazon VP and Vancouver site lead, in a news release.

Career Day features software-code review workshops and breakout sessions to find out more about Amazon’s growing logistics network, as well as:

  • Individualized career coaching — a team of 1,000 Amazon recruiters will conduct 20,000 free, one-on-one coaching sessions for job seekers across North America. Attendees can choose a field of interest, both tech and non-tech, and be subsequently matched to a suitable recruiter to help prepare them for their next opportunity.
  • Tips and tricks — TV host and life coach Karamo Brown and former NFL wide receiver and NASA astronaut Leland Melvin share personal stories of changing careers and overcoming adversity, and experts give advice on adapting existing skills, building professional brands and reimagining resumes to help land that next job.
  • Amazon education — learn about a wide range of roles at the company, with representatives like Cherris Armour, director of worldwide operations, on hand to talk about everything from entry-level positions in fulfillment centres to corporate roles at its Tech Hubs in Vancouver and Toronto. There will also be staff on hand speaking on Amazon employee pay and benefits.

Last year 17,000 participants in six different U.S. cities attended Amazon Career Day. For more information including a full schedule lineup, visit amazon.jobs/careerday.
