Lamborghini Huracán EVO becomes first to offer Amazon Alexa in-car control

Many of us rely on Amazon’s Echo devices to simplify everyday tasks at home, such as set a timer or make a call. So how about on the road, too? Well, starting this year the Lamborghini Huracán EVO range becomes the first in the world to offer in-car control by Amazon Alexa.

Not only does the digital assistant now possess the ability to turn on or off electronics such as the stereo or heated seats, but even access onboard vehicle dynamics. The technology is integrated into the LDVI (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata) system on the four-wheel-drive-equipped models, so drivers can ask to view real-time feedback on the display — for example, what the torque vectoring or traction management is currently doing.

“Our vision is for Alexa to become a natural, intuitive part of the driving experience, and Lamborghini has embraced that by integrating Alexa directly into its onboard infotainment systems,” said Ned Curic, vice president of Alexa Auto at Amazon.

“The integration will enable Lamborghini owners to enjoy the convenience of an intelligent voice service while focusing on the joy of the Lamborghini driving experience, and we expect it to set a new standard for in-car voice experiences.”

The onboard Alexa can also communicate with other Echo-compatible devices. Opening the garage door or changing the thermostat settings are both possible via simple voice command by anyone sitting inside the supercar. Just like a phone or smart speaker, the software is updated wirelessly over the air.

In addition, EVO customers may enjoy more connected services through the Lamborghini UNICA app. Downloading to a mobile device allows users to find their car, generate a vehicle status report and enable geofencing functions including remote speed and valet alerts.

The luxury automaker says this unique partnership will, “allow continuous updating of Alexa’s functionality within Lamborghini models, with both companies working to develop further connectivity innovations and integrations.”
