Mother’s Day take home and outdoor dining brunch options in Vancouver

Though we continue to be right in the thick of a global pandemic, there are still ways to celebrate Mother’s Day safely this year. A number of local catering and hospitality groups are putting together brunches to be enjoyed at home or al fresco on the special day — here are a couple of favourites.

Savoury City

This award winning East Van caterer has two take home options for May 7 and 8. Their $119 Mother’s Day Brunch feeds four to six people and customers can choose between two quiches: spring vegetable, herbs and goat cheese, or smoked bacon, leek and farmhouse cheddar. Also includes lyonnaise potatoes, house-made scones with mascarpone cream and house preserves, butter lettuce salad. And for dessert, a dozen assorted tarts, squares and cookies.

The $39 per person Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea (minimum order of two servings) features a selection of eight savoury and four sweet bites such as smoked salmon and chive biscuit, caramelized onion and manchego tartlet, lemon curd tartlet with fresh berries and traditional scones with mascarpone cream and house preserves.

Orders are being taken now until May 6 at 4 p.m. Delivery is available at extra cost, call 604-875-8484 for more information.

Wentworth Hospitality

Owner of three downtown eateries, Homer Street Café and Bar, Tableau Bar Bistro and Maxine’s Café & Bar, Wentworth Hospitality is offering a walk-in only Mother’s Day Continental Brunch on the patio at of the aforementioned establishments.

The set meal consists of house-baked pastries (one each of a croissant, oat muffin and coffee cake); bircher muesli; a breakfast board with fennel salumi, shaved ham artisan cheese and a soft-boiled egg; smoked salmon on a multigrain bagel; and a Hanna Brook Farm salad with greens, mustard vinaigrette and shaved vegetables. To spice things up, add a DIY mimosa kit for $25 (Happy Planet orange juice and bottle of Pol Rémy Brut).
