Named after the octahedral shape of a diamond, the new Land Rover Defender 110 OCTA exudes similar toughness and beauty as its inspiration.

“With New Defender OCTA we have been able to unlock the full potential of Defender. It is the very definition of breadth of capability, and a testament to what we can achieve utilizing the very best technologies and talents within our engineering division,” says JLR managing director Mark Cameron in a media release.

“With its powerful V8 engine, ground‑breaking 6D Dynamics suspension technology, exquisite finishes and unique detailing, it is rare, incredibly tough and inherently desirable.”

Our Edition One press loaner was sprayed in the premium Faroe Green metallic paint and wore Chopped Carbon Fibre detailing on the hood and fenders, the dark finishes perfectly matching the vehicle’s badass vibe. All grades feature a contrasting Narvik Black roof and tailgate. The latter is also found decorating the front seatbacks and centre console trim, complemented by the plush two-tone Khaki and Ebony vegan Ultrafabrics upholstery.

Though disappointed that the cabin is not equipped with massage chairs, the Body and Soul Seat audio is the next best thing. Speakers embedded inside shake your entire being to the core when the appropriate music is playing, and the technology is utilized in the six wellness programs as well, accessed through the 11.4-inch infotainment display, which combines soothing sounds and lighting to set the selected mood.

Under the hood is a P635 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine that really comes alive when the four-exit active exhaust system is opened up via a virtual toggle on the touchscreen. Built for tackling challenging terrain, the massive 20-inch Sating Black alloy wheels are shod in equally impressive Goodyear Advanced All-Terain 33-inch diameter tires — the largest ever on a production Defender — necessitating extended wheel arches.

A lifted stance, alloy front under shield, underbody protection, longer and more rugged wishbones and other beefed up suspension bits further enable off-roading aspirations. When pedestrian duties are called for, the height-adjustable air springs allow the 4×4 to fit in underground parkades.

The 2025 Land Rover Defender 110 OCTA starts at $175,000.
