Spielberg is back in the sci-fi thriller director’s chair (where he belongs!) with the new picture Disclosure Day, which is out now out on digital, 4K UHD, Blu-ray an DVD.

It’s his first return to the genre since 2018’s fun and futuristic Ready Player One, and the fact that this marks the 30^thcollaboration with composer John Williams should already be a good indication the project is something special.

The film focuses around Daniel Kellner, a freshly ex-cybersecurity specialist played by Brit actor Josh O’Connor, his girlfriend (Eve Hewson) and TV meteorologist-turned-alien-whisperer Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt) as they collectively try to take down a shadow agency concealing the presence of alien life on earth since the Nixon administration. 

Other notable characters include antagonist Noah Scanlon portrayed convincingly by Colin Firth, Fairchild’s boyfriend Jackson (Wyatt Russell of Marvel Thunderbolts fame), and Kellner’s former associate Hugo Wakefield (Colman Domingo fresh off this year’s Michael biopic).

Beyond the impressive visuals often associated with a Spielberg movie, there are pretty obvious underlying themes explored throughout the 145-minute runtime offering some substance to the summertime popcorn flick — for example, who has the right to knowledge, a topic that is especially poignant and relevant in 2026.

Fans of behind-the-scenes content won’t be disappointed by some of the extras that are included with the physical media like “Encountering the Unknown: Inside Disclosure Day,” which is a 50-minute deep dive into filmmaking secrets and the real-life inspirations encountered. “Spielberg & Williams: A Legendary Collaboration” is a well-deserved celebration of the partnership between the two industry titans that have given audiences so much joy over five decades.
