Art lovers prepare yourselves: a new event is coming to the Lower Mainland this May that will showcase works from both local and international artists in a variety of genres.
Called Art! Vancouver, it is a four-day art fair set at the Vancouver Convention Centre designed to connect the fine arts community whether the exhibitors specialize in painting, sculpture, installations, photography and others. The event also aims to further the city’s growing arts and culture scene.
“By reinforcing Vancouver as a hotspot for international art fairs, the city has the opportunity to become what it should be: one of the world’s most prestigious creative hubs,” says Art! Vancouver founder and director Lisa Wolfin.
Notable guests include 12-year-old Los Angeles painter Charles Gitnick who uses guns as subject matter to protest against urban violence, and West Vancouver’s Craig Yeates Studio & Gallery.
Art! Vancouver officially starts with an opening ceremony on May 21 featuring the Art Runway hosted by SpierHead Winery, where artists will model pieces that will be displayed at their booths.
The fair runs until May 24. Visit the website for more information, and to purchase tickets.
