The New York International Automobile Show (NYIAS) is officially underway, running now until April 28. If you’re heading to the Big Apple, make sure to check out a few of these fresh models coming soon to a dealership near you.

2020 Lincoln Corsair

Another three-letter model bites the dust as Lincoln introduced the successor to the MKC at NYIAS. The Corsair — a twist on ‘cursus,” the Latin word for journey — is a smoothly sculpted compact crossover bearing more than just a passing resemblance to bigger brother the Aviator. Both have the classy repeating star emblem chrome grille, optional Revel premium stereo, Perfect Position seating and Phone As A Key functionality where the Lincoln Way mobile app can replace a traditional key fob.

A 250-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-litre engine is standard, while an available turbo 2.3-litre makes 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Both are four-cylinders and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive will also be offered when the vehicle launches this coming fall.

2020 Kia Stinger GTS

The Stinger is far and away the most fun product to come out of the Kia camp, and the brand is kicking things up a notch adding a super-limited run of a new GTS variant. Sprayed in bright “Federation” orange paint, the grand tourer retains the twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6 from the GT under the hood but adds a tuned version of the all-wheel drive system.

Rear-biased and equipped with a mechanical limited-slip differential, a selectable drift mode sends 100 per cent of power to the back wheels and holds the current gear in place allowing for some slippery fun around a corner. Other differentiating features include carbon fibre grille trim, side mirror caps and vents; and an Alcantara finish on the steering wheel and centre console.

2019 Mazda CX-5 Signature diesel

Years after talk of a diesel Mazda CX-5 coming to North America, it’s finally happening. The 2019 CX-5 Signature AWD grade boasts a Skyactiv-D twin-turbocharged 2.2-litre engine, producing 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque and yielding a combined city/highway fuel economy rating of 8.4 L/100 km. Delays were attributed to ensuring the motor properly met all emissions regulations, as the automotive industry is still feeling the effects of Volkswagen’s “Dieselgate” scandal in 2015.

Customers have a choice of four colours: Jet Black, Snowflake White Pearl, Soul Red Crystal or Machine Gray.
