Vancouver Fashion Week 2011 day three — photo gallery

On April 15, 2011August 28, 2018 By Benjamin YongIn Fashion, LifestyleLeave a comment

Day three of the Vancouver Fashion Show 2011. All I can say is that it was a LOT busier than day two. So busy in fact that I struggled to find a good spot in the photo pit, and was muscled out to a tiny bit of real estate on the corner. I still ha...

Tonight I went down to day two of Vancouver Fashion Week fall/winter 2011 collection at the Empire Landmark Hotel on lower Robson Street. My first time shooting the runway, I was just in time to catch the last showing of the night. Here are a few ...

I Can See Your Underwear: a shamefully unique exhibit at Centre A

On March 2, 2011August 28, 2018 By Benjamin YongIn Arts, Culture & Entertainment, LifestyleLeave a comment

Vancouver-based artists Kelly Lycan and Natalie Purschwitz describe their latest art exhibit I Can See Your Underwear as a return to schoolyard taunts. "Like the emperor and his new clothes, the metaphoric transparency of the materials belies its ...

Had a great time at last night’s @monostravel event showcasing their partnership with Pre-Merger, a Vancouver-based automotive restoration studio responsible for this gorgeous Amaranto-colour 1998 Mercedes-Benz G320 sourced from Tokyo. The 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer gets a new face showcasing slimmer LED headlights and an equally slimmer and illuminated slotted grille. There’s not a lot of other changes, but this full-size luxury SUV still seats seven or eight passengers very comfortably with loads of cargo room and features the capable 420-horsepower 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine. Be on the lookout for a range-extended EV variant coming soon. Representing an even more-off-road-friendly version of the Land Rover 110 with a trick suspension system, this refreshed OCTA variant sports updated tinted head and flush tail lamps, grille and bumpers, adaptive off-road cruise control and a slightly revised cabin. Thanks to stricter emissions regulations, the brand’s in-house supercharged eight-cylinder engine was ditched back in 2024 for a very capable BMW-sourced 4.4 twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8. The Mazda CX-90 carries over to model year 2026 with minimal changes other than standard Amazon Alexa voice command integration. This MHEV GT-P trim looks amazing in the Deep Crystal Blue Mica paint colour that really makes the Kodo design pop with dazzling light reflections off the body panels. There’s seating for up to eight depending on seat configuration and the turbocharged 3.3-little mild-hybrid inline-six balances power and efficiency nicely. Believe it or not the Range Rover didn’t get a third-row option until this fifth-generation long wheelbase model first launched back in 2021. Though the back seats aren’t super spacious, ferrying passengers in the luxe-4X4 is otherwise about as comfortable a ride as they’re going to experience in a vehicle. The starter P400 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, is smooth and fairly efficient considering it’s moving well over 5,000 pounds of weight. The 2026 Land Rover Defender 110 receives a minor facelift featuring some updated lighting and new colours. This P400 X-Dynamic SE looks summer ready with its Borasco Grey paint job, 20-inch gloss white steely-look wheels and black accenting. Powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six mild-hybrid engine the luxo-4x4 has a full complement of off-road hardware including air suspension and rear electronic differential. The 2026 Toyota GR86 introduces a new special Yuzu Edition splashing the sports car with a gorgeous yellow paint colour. Limited to just 30 units in Canada, it also includes a factory body kit, quad-outlet exhaust, SACHS dampers, red Brembo brakes, 18-inch matte black wheels and other black accenting with hits of yellow in the cabin. No powertrain changes. Throwback to this random sighting of a Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team (TGR-WRT) kitted-out GR Yaris on the streets of Japan. The 2026 Polestar 4 EV is quick. Like 544 horsepower/506 lb-ft of torque/sub-4.0 seconds 0-100 kph quick. This Long range Dual motor Performance Pack model doesn’t look half bad either with its fastback roof and gold Brembo brakes hiding behind 22-inch forged alloy wheels. Interior room is pretty generous for a coupe style crossover partly due to the elimination of a back window.
