BMW Canada officially unveiled the i3 electric vehicle to the media today at their headquarters in Richmond Hill, ON. The futuristic-looking hatchback has an approximate range of 160 kilometres, boosted to 300 km if you opt for the $4,000 gasoline-powered “range extender” that runs a generator to recharge the battery. The car features an interior made from 25 per cent recycled materials as well as European-sourced eucalyptus wood for some of the trim.
Along with their i8 hybrid sports car, it’s the German manufacturer’s first mainstream foray into the EV world. The i3 is on sale now at select dealerships starting at a base MSRP of $44,950.
