Top three events in Bellingham this summer

Downtown Sounds Bellingham

Looking for something entertaining and maybe even a little educational to do this summer? A number of events are happening in the communities of historic Fairhaven and downtown Bellingham, just a short drive over the border from the Lower Mainland. Here is a short list of things to check out:

There are a few days left to attend the Bellingham Festival of Music, located at the Western Washington University Performing Arts Centre. Going on until July 20, the festival features both free and paid performances by selected musicians all over North America.

The Downtown Sounds free concert series is also happening right now until Aug. 6 at the nearby 1300 block of Bay Street. Different local bands will be playing all types of music every Wednesday night, and you can find Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro pouring drinks at the on-site the beverage garden.

Are you a sci-fi enthusiast? The Fairhaven Steampunk Festival Mr. Flip’s Carnival of Wonders & Curiosities is on July 19 at the Village Green. Celebrate the unique steampunk culture with Food, entertainment, vendors, and even a costume contest from 12 to 5 p.m.
