This year’s hush-hush Dîner en Blanc — an elegant, pop-up “chic picnic” — was held at David Lam Park in Yaletown. About 3,500 people, dressed head-to-toe in white, sat and dined while music played in the background and face-painted dancers performed around the perimeter. Taking place in a secret location each year, the venue is announced an hour before the event officially begins. The twirling of white towels signifies the start of the festivities, and a sea of sparklers are lit at sunset.
Dîner en Blanc happens annually in different parts of the world, and was started 25 years ago in France. Read more.
