Let the battle begin: 16 teams of Mario Kart competitors will square off tomorrow afternoon in a battle royal held at the Lamplighter pub in Gastown. The game du jour won’t be the latest kart title, however. Players instead will be loading up Mario Kart 64, one of the most beloved multiplayer games to be released on the late 1990s home gaming console the Nintendo 64.
The tournament will be streamed live via the online video game channel Twitch, and participants include former IGN host Greg Miller and cosplayer Heather Leet. All proceeds from the event go towards the BC Children’s Hospital. For more information contact organizer Damon Holowchak at 1dannymac@gmail.com.
