Anyone who cycles for commuting or pleasure knows how dangerous riding can be in the evening. Mounting different kinds of lighting on your bike is a great safety precaution, but wouldn’t it be great if you could have an easy-in-install rear brake light like cars have, to alert drivers behind you that you’re about to stop?
LucidLights, Colorado-based maker of smart LED lighting technology, announced the LucidBrake today on crowdfunding website Kickstarter. The company calls it “the most intelligent bike brake light on the market.” Mounting to virtually any surface, the wireless device detects when the cyclist is decelerating and activates automatically. Eight ultra-bright LEDs are installed inside a 76-millimetre housing and can flash or glow solid according to user settings. It also weighs less than 100 grams and is waterproof allowing usage in rainy or snowy conditions.
Available June 2015, the purchase price for the first 25 backers is $50, and $69.99 thereafter.
