There’s no shortage of boutique hotels in the quirky town of Portland, OR, but the story of the soon-to-be-open Hotel Eastlund is location, location, location.
Close to the Moda Centre and directly adjacent to the Oregon Convention Centre, its characteristic twin green glass towers and the rest of the downtown skyline are easily visible from Eastlund, which is set in the heart of the developing Lloyd District in Portland’s east side. Opening in May, the hotel features 168 cozy rooms, as well as suites, all featuring a theme mixing vintage with modern style. Complementary original art pieces can be found hanging throughout.
A big draw to the facility will be the rooftop gastrobar named Altabira City Tavern, a beer-centric eatery run by chef David Machado — guests visiting just for the food can commute using the nearby Portland streetcar and MAX light rail. Aside from the restaurant, the six-story building also has a cafe, two conference rooms, private dining rooms and 3,600 square-foot ballroom that can hold up to 300 people.
Hotel Eastlund is being built by Grand Ventures, the same company responsible for Portland’s Hotel Modera. Opening room rates at $189.
