Do you love driving, and need a no-compromise tire that can carry you through most of the year? Then I have great news — Michelin has just expanded its lineup, adding the race-inspired Pilot Sport A/S (PSAS) 3+ all-season tires intended for enthusiasts and everyday motorists alike.

The French manufacturer has taken technology from the racetrack and applied that same technology into this latest street tire from the Michelin Pilot Sport family.

“For those considering all-season tires, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ is our best ultra-high-performance choice,” said Michelin Canada’s Sabrina Garofalo. “With features originally developed for endurance racing, it combines breakthrough levels of wet and dry grip while providing excellent mobility for all-season performance.”

Improving upon the previous PSAS 3 model, one of the newest features of the PSAS 3+ is the implementation of Variable Contact Patch 3.0, originally designed for Formula 1, which spreads force and temperature more evenly over the part of the tread contacting the road. It is paired with an aggressive asymmetric tread pattern borrowed from the Pilot Super Sport max performance summer tire, together optimizing dry and wet grip as well as even wear.

Other highlights include generous amounts of silica (the same stuff found in little packets inside retail packaging to absorb moisture) and large grooves as well as variable thickness sipes (small cuts in the rubber), which decrease the chance of hydroplaning1 when encountering deep puddles. Helio+ Compound in the rubber resists hardening in low temperatures and helps to maintain traction in colder conditions. In fact, snow traction is advertised at 28 per cent better compared to the standard PSAS 3, so the tire works to help acceleration and braking in light winter conditions.

The Michelin PSAS 3+ is available in sizes ranging from 195/45/R16 to 285/35/ZR20, compatible with vehicles like the Volkswagen Golf, BMW 3 and 4 Series, Lexus IS, Ford Mustang, Subaru Impreza and many more. For more information, visit www.michelin.ca.

Actual on-road results may vary.
