California streetwear brand Pink Dolphin and PUMA shoes have done it again: last summer, the two companies partnered together to drop the Suede V2 low top sneaker featuring a stunning new design.
Available in two colours, I just picked up the summer-appropriate Ether Blue variant (black is the other option). The entire upper is finished in this cool hue, save for a subtle all-over white text print that reads “Pink Dolphin” in Japanese, as well as the light orangey canvas heel tab housing the Pink Dolphin Waves logo.
The soles have been given a translucent icy blue treatment, and capping off these pieces of art is another, larger rendition of the logo spanning the length of the outsole.
The nappy suede leather looks premium and feels nice to the touch. The sneakers are easy to slip on, comfortable, and pair well with any light, earth tone outfit to let the footwear do the talking. Or, rock the rest of the collection that includes a hat, tank top multiple T-shirts, shorts and even matching duffel bag.
Known for its trademark bright and bold palette, Pink Dolphin first collaborated with PUMA in 2016 releasing clothes and shoes in vibrant colours and gradations inspired by the deep blue sea.
Protip: if you live in an unpredictable climate (i.e. Vancouver), check the weather report before stepping out in these. The suede is a natural dirt magnet so it’s a good idea to save them for sunny day use. And give them a generous spraying of your suede protector of choice before first wear for that extra little peace of mind — I’m partial to Moneysworth & Best Pro-Tex.
