Subaru and Land Rover have been crowned by automotive analytics company ALG as the number one mainstream brand and premium brand, respectively, for its 2019 Canadian Residual Value Awards (RVA).
The awards recognize vehicles in 26 segments that are forecast to retain the highest percentage of their Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price after a three-year period.
“ALG’s Residual Value Awards annually recognize the collective health of a brand — how it successfully manages new vehicle transaction prices and incentives against used vehicle values and re-marketing strategies,” said Michelle MacDonald, ALG Industry Solutions senior manager.
2019 will mark the fourth year that Land Rover will take home the overall RVA for premium brands. The British manufacturer also won three of the premium utility segment categories with the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover, and Discovery. Subaru received the best mainstream brand award for the fifth consecutive year, and beat out all other mainstream cars with the Impreza and Crosstreck, and mainstream utility with the Outback and WRX.
Winners are determined through analysis of used vehicle performance, brand outlook and product competitiveness. Eligibility for an award requires a manufacturer to have vehicle entries in at least four different segments. To account for differences across trim levels, model averages are weighted based on percentage share relative to the entire model line.
