Portland, Oregon is often referred to as Mecca for anything craft beer, now boasting somewhere over 60 breweries operating in the city alone. But with so much competition, how does an artisan brew differentiate itself?
PDX Grocer Zupan’s Markets and microbrewery Coalition Brewing are onto something, having recently released their second Farm-to-Market collaboration, an Imperial Coffee Chocolate Stout. Not only is it delicious, hitting your palate with hearty flavours of espresso, cocoa and caramel, but the beer is made from ingredients sourced through nearby businesses Caffé Umbria and Woodblock Chocolate.
Zupan’s president and CEO Mike Zupan says, “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Coalition Brewing on a second beer that showcases the delectable flavours the Northwest has to offer.”
The first partnership offering, released in the summer, was the citrusy Farm-to-Market IPA. Stay tuned this fall 2016, when there will be another special release using some of the stout that is currently being aged in a Bull Run Distilling whisky barrel.
