With a never-ending deluge of different dash cameras hitting store shelves nowadays, it’s a tough gig to stand out from the crowd. Taiwan-based electronics specialist PAPAGO! is planning to get a head start on its competitors in 2016 by introducing a new flagship model — with a unique parking guard feature — to its GoSafe lineup of high definition dash cams — the GoSafe 268.
The 268 is a bit of a different animal, as it mounts directly onto the rearview mirror rather than the windshield, allowing an unobstructed forward view, as well as reducing clutter. An LCD view screen is embedded seamlessly into the mirror, and the unit uses a Sony sensor to ensure high-quality video in most lighting situations. Up to 64-gigabyte Micro SD cards are supported.
For added protection, the parking guard features can up to 10 seconds of footage when the camera detects any movement or impact while the car is unattended, even when unplugged, as long as the built-in battery is fully charged.
The GoSafe 268 is scheduled for release in the coming weeks, but visitors attending the CES 2016 consumer technologies trade show in Las Vegas can get a sneak peek by visiting Booth 72870 at the Sands Expo.
